MUNCHKIN OR MIDGET CAT
The Munchkin is one of the world’s newest cat breeds known as Dachshund and Corgi of the feline world by many cat lovers and professionals such as veterinary surgeons. The Munchkin is probably called so because of its short legs carrying its normal-sized body. Unlike their canine companions, they have not experienced huge health problems with their back or legs such as spine and back problems caused by degenerative or inverted disks that are directly related to their short legs. The term Munchkin coined by L. Frank Baum for the first time in his novel called The Wizard of Oz, probably adapted from German word Männchen which means little man. Munchkin cats cannot be bred with each other as the dwarfism gene they are predisposed to can be lethal.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE OF A MUNCHKIN OR MIDGET CAT
The Munchkin has quite short legs yet its other physical features such as its head size, spine size, body size almost the same as other long-legged cats. Its body is kind of thick and we may say that its body is semi-foreign, not compact. It has well-rounded chest and firm hips. Its muscular strength is neither too much nor too little. The Munchkin has high, defined cheekbones and modified wedge with rounded contours, in proportion with body. It has flat forehead. Its ears are always alerted, they are not flaring at all. Its eyes look like little walnuts resulting in open and alerted expression because of its eyes located widely apart from each other. Any connection can be linked between fur colour and eye colour.
