Why fungi occurs in budgies? How is it treated?

Candida albicans is a type of fungal disease that commonly occurs in cage birds. This disease occurs with the rapid development of infections. Usually the first symptom occurs in the eye parts. It is a form of discomfort that occurs in the digestive system and increases with the number of microbes. If there is no improvement in the digestive system, as the bacteria multiply, it starts from the beak parts of the bird and occurs in all other feathered areas, at the bottom of its wings and tails. Budgerigars are extremely uncomfortable with this situation and show their discomfort with constant itching method.
Especially the fungus that forms around the eye causes incredible shrinkage in the eye parts of the bird and some swellings and even spills in the feathers. The moulting frequency starts to increase more during these periods. In general, this fungus, namely “Candida albicans”, begins to emerge in parrots and budgerigars’ beak and eyes. Unless the treatment is diagnosed early, the bird begins to increase immunity and indigestion more, or diarrhea. The budgerigar soon dies. The sensitivity of birds is very low. Even young parrots are stronger than budgerigars in this regard. They manage to do their own cleaning very well. Therefore, their lifespan is much longer than other bird species.

Some of the factors that most reveal the risk of fungis are: In cases of late discharge of the crop in birds, the risk of fungi increases. If the antibiotics and vitamins given to the birds are overdosed and used randomly, the fungus becomes widespread in the bird. The bird reveals it by diarrhea or constipation. A sluggish posture, smaller eyes and weak eyes begin to appear. Disruptions in the digestive system occur. The bird can leave its willingness to eat for a long time. Bruising may occur on toenails. The head is slanted and the wings can be weak. The biggest symptom of the fungus begins with weakness. Especially the bird’s lack of vitamin A is considered a valid reason for this situation. In addition, other factors include malnutrition, giving too much additional food to the bird, and acting unconsciously without knowing whether it is good for the bird.
The bird may also lose its flying function for a while. Stress, anxiety, and the bird’s sadness and resentment can lead to such diseases. Sores and rashes begin to form in the mouth and beak of a bird with a fungus. Pitting around the eyes, shrinkage in the lower part of the eye begins. It almost loses its visual function due to the eye fungus. When you take the bird in hand, a bad smell starts to appear in the beak, that is, inside the mouth chamber. The moment you feel this smell; you can be sure that your bird is sick. The bird crows weakly. He sneezes all the time. Flu symptoms increase. Tired and exhausted are understood from all sides. In such cases, early action saves lives.

The first treatment that you will apply to your bird is to wipe the areas with mushrooms with oxygenated water and to purify the skin from dead cells. Then another process is to take your bird to a veterinarian and take the cream suitable for the fungus without wasting time. The recommendation of the vet on a regular basis will be to apply to the formed parts of the mushroom until 20 days in the morning and evening. Fungus treatment ends with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 days. This is the best way to heal, even if the time is long for you. If you do not have time to go to the veterinarian, you can obtain a mushroom cream suitable for your bird type from the pharmacies, and offer the treatment to your budgerigar with the advice of your pharmacist. If you do not want to get rid of the fungal disease and the bird will not experience this situation again, do not give unconscious drugs and different foods. The bath time of the bird should be once in 2 weeks in winter and 2 days in summer. We wish you to feed healthy animals.
